How much money should you save for your trip?  

That depends on how extravagant you want your trip to be?  For us we wanted to have nice hotels and Airbnb's.  Now I'm not talking Sofitel $400 dollars per night nice, just something slightly upscale with modern decor...and air conditioning was a MUST!  

The average price per night (for both hotels and Airbnb's) that we spent on our trip was $33.  

It is also important to know that we are traveling the month of December to January.  Not sure if prices are slightly inflated due to the fact that a lot of people want to vacation here during the holidays.  

I calculated $3,000 for our 1-month trip (not including our plane ticket from SFO and back). That included hotels, plane tickets, food, entertainment, transportation and spending money on random stuff to take home.  My husband is really into guns so we also factored in the cost to shoot some guns you can't shoot in the US in Phnom Penh.  In the next post I will talk about how to get the best deal on your plane ticket!
